Measures for hygienic first aid and occupational safety are also essential in the food industry. Whether hearing protection, safety glasses or respiratory protection, the safety of employees has a direct impact on the quality and safety of the goods produced and should always be the focus of the manufacturing company. In addition, most potentially hazardous areas have extensive regulations that must be followed. For example, in environments with very high sound levels of 85 dB and above, the wearing of hearing protection is mandatory. For effective prevention, Ehlert offers you hearing protectors in its product range, which of course comply with EU Directive 89/686/EEC for occupational safety. Depending on your requirements, we offer you a choice of different solutions. Thus, earplugs are suitable for your business if you are looking for an inexpensive ear protection for irregular use. If, on the other hand, it is important in your company to counteract high noise levels at least for a short time and on a regular basis, we recommend the earmuffs from our Ehlert range. Be sure to pay attention to the different specifications regarding the maximum damping value. Since the effectiveness of hearing protection always depends on the wearer’s application, you should make sure that you choose hearing protection that is at least 5 dB (for earmuffs) or 9 dB (for earplugs) above the prescribed minimum attenuation value.
Privacy screen for every requirement
Another aspect of occupational safety in food production plants is visual protection. The European standard applicable here is EN 166, which is also part of Directive 89/686/EEC. The eyes should not only be protected from dust or splinters, but also from chemicals and, if necessary, from UV light and laser light. The safety goggles are constructed like most optical goggles. Single- or double-lens spectacles are used most frequently.

If a worker needs a combination of safety and prescription glasses, a combination of both, called prescription safety glasses, is mandatory. The justification for this regulation is the equal importance of the compensation of an optical defect and an adequate protection of the eye. Of course, you hope nothing ever happens. Most accidents in food production plants are minor cuts that can be easily treated with adhesive plasters.
Nevertheless, you should always be well equipped for emergencies. Ehlert offers you first-aid boxes according to DIN 13157, plaster dispensers, finger bandages, but also eye wash stations for the optimal protection of your business premises. Bandages and plasters of course in blue and partly in detectable versions.
