What does this umbrella organization do?
Since 1947 the Zentralverband Naturdarm e. V. (ZVN) organized German specialist companies for the trade or processing of natural casings. Around 6,000 people are currently employed by the members – spread across the globe. The majority, however, takes place in the Federal Republic of Germany: Germany is the hub of the international casing trade. In 2019, over 225,000 tons of goods were traded here.
It is important to keep track of trade policy, foreign trade, customs regulations and scientific aspects. “With the WGA we have a strong and well-networked partner at our side,” says ZVN chairman Heike Molkenthin. The WGA, founded in 1916, supports professional associations, their members as well as individual companies from the wholesale and retail trade in their entrepreneurial activities. The managing director Lisann Bauer will now also devote herself to the concerns of the natural casing industry: “Natural casings are among the oldest foods in the world and, as a sustainable sausage casing, are more relevant today than ever. We are very happy about the decision to join the WGA and look forward to a successful cooperation! “
